WATCH: CNN Host Learns Simple Law Lesson from Guest

A CNN host got a lecture about the law Monday night when she suggested that President Donald Trump had committed treason via his alleged Russian connections.

Former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey appeared with Erin Burnett on CNN’s “Outfront,” where the host tried her best to get Mukasey to admit that Trump somehow broke the law, but he wasn’t buying it.

Burnett referred to part of Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ statement in which he said he had not read every correspondence between Russia and Trump’s campaign, suggesting that he was trying to cover himself “in case something improper did happen.”

Mukasey, who served as attorney general in the George W. Bush administration, told her that Sessions shouldn’t even waste his time looking at them.

Burnett then asked Mukasey if he thought Sessions should recuse himself in favor of a special prosecutor, and before she could finish her sentence, he cut her off.

“No! Special prosecutor of what?” he asked. “Where’s the crime? We haven’t even named the crime, let alone suggested that charges are going to be brought.”

She continued to press Mukasey, and suggested that talking to the Russians about the election was treason.

A shocked Mukasey gave her an emphatic “no.”

Burnett, still determined to get Mukasey to admit that Trump had done something wrong, then asked Mukasey if he was “fine” with the Trump campaign colluding with the Russians.

“It’s not a question of being ‘fine with it,’” he said. “I’m not fine with it, but there’s a difference between treason and what I’m fine with or not. And saying, ‘You ought to get stuff on Hillary Clinton,’ believe it or not, is not a crime, even if you’re saying it to the Russians.”

Watch their exchange below:

This exchange illustrates why the public doesn’t trust CNN or the mainstream media anymore. They are so hell-bent on destroying Trump, they will ruin their reputation trying to make him look bad.
